Eddy Bullet has teamed up with Kickstart rider training of Bristol & Clevedon to offer new riders an easy way of getting on to a scooter. Click on the Kickstart logo above to go straight to their site & for full information on what you need to do. In summary unless you already have full motorcycle license entitlement you will need to carry out a one day safety CBT (compulsory basic training) to get on the road with your L plates. You need to check if you have a provisional motorcycle license entitlement first. If you do not then you can apply for one online here

If you are a newbie there is nothing to be daunted about. Eddy is very much in favour of this easy one day safety check. Although it is possible to fail it is not really a pass or fail situation rather an opportunity for professionals to make sure you are not a liability to yourself or other road users. Since its introduction safety records in the UK have continued to improve and are now some of the safest in the western world. Infact, most students report that they actually enjoyed the training! To ride a 125cc scooter you need to be 17+ & hold a provisional motorcycle entitlement license. If you want to ride a 50cc scooter and have had a car license issued to you prior to 1st Feb 2001 then you do not need to take any training at all. If your license was issued after this date you still need to do your CBT for any capacity machine. CBT tickets last two years and need to be renewed unless you decide to put in for the full license of course. Bizarre isn’t it that after 1st Feb 2001 you can drive a two tonne Shogun up the M5 at 70mph but cannot be trusted on a moped? Don’t blame us we didn’t make the rules.
